About Pawttery

At Pawttery, we celebrate the deep bond between fur babies and their humans by crafting custom ceramics that immortalise their spirit.

Inspired by my chubby Labrador, whose soft fur mirrors the pliability of clay and whose vibrant energy echoes the fire in the kiln, every piece is shaped with intention, patience, and love.

Through the artful fusion of fire and clay, we capture the essence of your pet, creating timeless treasures that reflect their unique personality, bringing endless joy into your home.

From a lump of raw earth to something that looks just like your pet — every step is done slowly, by hand, with your photo always nearby.

Step 01

Sculpting

It begins with your photo and a ball of earthenware clay. Fingers press, pinch and coax the clay into the shape of your pet — their posture, the tilt of their head, the roundness of their cheeks. No moulds. No shortcuts. Just hands and patience.

"Every pet has a silhouette only their human would recognise."

Step 02

Air Drying

Once sculpted, the piece is set aside to dry slowly in open air — sometimes for days. This is a moment of stillness. The clay settles, hardens, and finds its final form. Rushing this step would risk cracks, so we simply wait.

"Good things take time. So do good pets."

Step 03

Bisque Firing

The dried sculpture goes into the kiln for its first firing. At nearly 1000°C, the clay transforms — it becomes hard, permanent, no longer just earth but something entirely new. This is the moment your pet's form is locked in forever.

"Into the fire, and out the other side — changed, but whole."

Glazing

Step 04

Glazing

With the bisqued piece in one hand and your photo in the other, we paint. Layer by layer, colour by colour — the golden retriever's amber coat, the tabby's striped forehead, the dalmatian's every spot. This is the most intimate step.

"We paint what we see, and what only you know."

Step 05

Glaze Firing

Back into the kiln one final time. The glaze melts, fuses, and becomes glass — colours deepen, surfaces take on a gentle sheen. When the kiln opens and the piece cools in our hands, it is done. It is yours. It is them.

"The kiln gives back what the clay always held inside."

Step 06

Final Result

The finished piece emerges — a handcrafted portrait in clay, entirely unique to your pet. Wrapped with care and sent to you, to sit somewhere it will be seen every day, carrying a little of their warmth wherever they go.

"It is done. It is yours. It is them."
